As a local surf shop, there is nothing we love more than getting someone to try surfing for the first time. Bryan Smith, the Maui Nix General Manager, pitched the idea to hold free surf lessons on Saturdays during the summer 3 years ago. He rallied some of the shop employees together to host the first free surf class, where everything would be provided and all the kids had to do was show up and get stoked. This year was no different from the last few, but we felt that we needed to kick off this summer with a bang. We reached out to some of our favorite brands like Corkcicle, STANCE Socks, Sun Bum, Salty Crew and Otis Eyewear and planned a kick off party for summer! Needless to say, it was nothing short of an amazing time with local kids and some people visiting the area. We also had Alana and Luke Lopez in attendance, accompanied by their father, world renowned surfer, Cory Lopez; hosting the party with Corkcicle.
